WRITER, EDITOR, ARTIST, DESIGNER

ABOUT ALICE

Alice is a Detroit-based writer and editor. She is inspired by people, places, and the grotesquely complex emotions that make up human existence. After graduating with an English degree from the University of Michigan, she has been working to help other people tell their stories while trying her best to write her own. Her preferred mediums are words, clothes, and oil paints.

PHILOSOPHY

One of my favorite things about human culture is our ability to tell stories. Since the beginning of our human history, people have connected by sharing their lives and relating to one another through mutual experiences. There is an intrinsic need in all of us to participate in the ancient tradition of showing and telling. It is to show we are alive, and to tell others we see them, too. I find myself deeply fascinated by story-telling in any medium. The way the information presented dictates the reaction. The way any encounter can be shared as more or less than it was. Thoughtfully cut scenes from a television show, the raw emotions bared in a memoir, the specific way a pair of boots can express so much about the wearer to the world. I think stories are the very basis for what makes us, us. At the end of the day, they’re all we have.
